Japanese for children and teenagers
A section dedicated to the youngest readers and to teenagers, with books in Japanese designed to learn the language in an enjoyable way and to enjoy reading from an early age. Here you will find everything from Japanese methods adapted for children to picture books, kanji and kana material and school dictionaries, mostly written in hiragana and katakana, with furigana on the kanji.
Japanese picture books
A wide selection of picture books (ehon), both classic and contemporary. On the one hand, the traditional Japanese tales of the Hajimete no Sekai Meisaku Ehon series, with stories such as Momotarou, Kintarou, Kaguya Hime or Urashima Tarou. On the other, picture books much loved in Japan such as Guri to Gura, the Bamu to Kero series, Darumasan ga or Hyakuman Kai Ikita Neko, as well as Japanese versions of international classics such as Harapeko Aomushi (The Very Hungry Caterpillar).
Methods for learning Japanese
You will also find Japanese methods designed specifically for children and teenagers, such as Kodomo no Nihongo (Japanese for Children), Adventures in Japanese or Ohisama. These are materials that introduce the language in a visual and gradual way, with illustrations, activities and audio, ideal both for the classroom and for learning at home.
Kanji, kana and school material
For writing practice, this category includes kanji and kana books designed for the youngest learners, such as E de Wakaru Kantan Kanji (basic kanji through images), Fun with Hiragana and Fun with Katakana, or the Kumon practice notebooks. There is no shortage of the popular workbooks featuring characters such as Rilakkuma, Pokémon or Demon Slayer, nor of the Japanese school dictionaries of kanji, vocabulary and proverbs that children themselves use in Japan.
