Daijiro Morohoshi: Debut 50th Anniversary - Gateway to the Otherworld

Daijiro Morohoshi Exhibition - Gateway to the Otherworld (諸星大二郎 異界への扉) is the official catalogue of Daijiro Morohoshi's 50th-anniversary exhibition.

A deluxe keepsake edition that accompanied the major retrospective «Daijiro Morohoshi Exhibition: Gateway to the Otherworld», held for his 50th anniversary and touring museums across Japan (the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, the Mitaka City Gallery, the Kitakyushu Manga Museum…) between 2020 and 2021. It gathers the original artwork of the most memorable scenes from his entire body of work.

Alongside the originals, it features artworks and folkloric, archaeological and historical materials tied to his manga —ancient pottery, illustrated scrolls (emaki)—, some 100,000 characters of commentary and an 18,000-character new interview with the author, plus three specially drawn illustrations, among them «The Landing of Princess Amabie». Arranged in eight themed chapters —from his 1970 debut to Japanese, Chinese and Western myth—, it is an essential reference for admirers and collectors of one of Japan's most influential and singular manga artists.
