From the the first steps in Japanese until the moment they reach an intermediate level, students of Japanese often have doubts about the use of the verbs. Not surprisingly, they feel they need a reference book on this matter.
The first step is taken in the introduction in which the characteristics of Japanese verbs are laid out and compared to English verbs as far as the tenses, auxiliaries, transitive and intransitive verbs are concerned.
With the help of tables and precise comments, part 1 shows you how to classify Japanese verbs and to categorize, conjugate and combine them with auxiliaries. Every example is followed by an exericise, thus helping to internalize the recently acquired information.
Part 2 continues with the forms described in the first part and shows students how they work in context. Every explanation is followed by examples and exercises, which guarantees students have understood the verbs and the rest of the sentence.
In the appendices, students will find several sources of information, including an English-Japanese verb dictionary.
