Write Your Own Haiku for Kids is a lovely book that teaches us step by step how to write haikus, Japanese short poems which through their imagery of nature seek to express feelings and immortalize moments.

The author of this book, Patricia Donegan, says that although the book is aimed at children,  it can also be used by adults. She even recommends that children use it with the guidance of an adult tutor or a teacher, which is how it is usually done in countries that have introduced the writing of haikus as an exercise to develop the childrens' creativity. 

The book includes explanations and exercises on how to write haikus as well as other written pieces such as the haibun which tells a story or the renga, a poem that is written by several friends.
