Kamishibai (紙芝居, “paper theatre”) is an ancient form of storytelling that is very popular in Japan.

It consists of a set of sheets, each with a picture on one side and text on the other.

The narrator reads the text relating to each of the illustrations while the audience looks at them and listens to the story.

It is an educational and entertaining technique aimed mainly at children.
