Dictionary of Traditional Japanese Colors by Sachio Yoshioka (日本の色辞典) is a dictionary of Japan's traditional colours dyed with plants.
The work of Sachio Yoshioka, fifth head of the Somenotsukasa Yoshioka dyeing workshop, who spent half his life reviving the plant-dyeing techniques used from the age of the Man'yōshū to the end of the Edo period. It gathers 466 colours, 209 of them reproduced with natural dyes and pigments, along with 42 kasane no irome combinations. Each colour comes with an explanation of its name and the history, poems or tales attached to it, printed in full colour.
