This set by the Japanese brand Akashiya includes twenty watercolour brush pens in the traditional colours of autumn in Japan: cinnabar, yellow, blue, purple, and chocolate-brown.
The brush pens combine sumi-e style painting with the functionality of a modern brush pen.
Although they look like pens, the tip behaves rather like a real brush pen than a felt tip pen.
These brush pens were the first to be soluble in water. They can be used like a Pentel Aquash water brush pen to produce effects and you can use water to create brighter tones and combine them with other colours to create new ones.
Innovative and award-winning design by Akashiya
Thanks to the innovative design of these SAI brush pens, the company Akashiya was awarded the 2007 Japanese stationery prize.
