The thickness of the strokes changes according to the pressure you put on the tip. It is suitable for calligraphy techniques such as hana, tome and  harai. The pen is wrapped up in Washi  paper decorated with traditional Japanese patterns such as the Kyo-yuzen and the Edo-komon. Kyo-yuzen is a Japanese technique characterized by its lovely bird, flower and landscape patterns. 

The Edo-komon print was typical in the Edo era and can be distinguished by the small lines that make up its print. 

These pens are available in a wide variety of designs and they randomly change every year. All designs include Japanese patterns such as cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, the different seasons of the year etc.
