Kanji Starter 2 is the second part of the Kanji Starter method, with some 300 more kanji, written in English.
A direct continuation of the first volume, it keeps Daiki Kusuya's same visual method and adds around 300 new kanji, now including those of more abstract construction that are harder to read at a glance. Together, the two volumes cover roughly a quarter of the nearly 2,000 daily-use (jōyō) kanji established in Japan.
As in the first volume, each kanji is explained with a picture of its origin, memory aids, examples of formation by combining elements and frequent compounds, always aiming at meaning before writing. It includes a stroke-count index and keeps the pocket-sized format, ideal as a classroom supplement for any level.
Recommended level: Beginner. Being written in English and picture-based, it works as a first approach to kanji without knowing Japanese; it also serves as a classroom supplement for any level.
