Japanese Stories for Language Learners - Bilingual Stories in Japanese and English (includes CD) is a bilingual book for reading in Japanese and English. It includes five very well-known Japanese stories as well as a CD on which these stories are read by Japanese native speakers. The book is suitable for intermediate and advanced level students. 

The book starts with two Japanese Folklore stories: Urashima Taro (The fisherman Urashima) and Yuki Onna (Snow woman). The other stories have been written by renowned 20th century authors:  

  • Kumo no Ito (The Spider's Thread) by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa  (1892-1927)
  • Oborekaketa Kyôdai (The Siblings who almost drowned) by Takeo Arishima  (1878-1923)
  • Serohiki no Goshu (Gauche the Cellist) by Kenji Miyazawa (1896-1933)
