Kaijin Niu Menso - The Fiend with Twenty Faces - Japanese novel written by Edogawa Rampo

The Japanese edition of Kaijin Niu Menso (怪人二十面相), a Japanese mystery novel written by Edogawa Rampo in 1936. The pen name of this author comes from the romanization of the name Edgar Allan Poe, who is one of the most important influences for Rampo. Nowadays, Rampo's novels have become cult titles and they have been adapted into films and TV series. Edogawa Rampo is also one of the main inspirations for manga authors such as Suehiro Maruo. 

In this novel, the main character is Kogoro Akechi the detective created by Rampo whose profile is very similar to Sherlock Holmes. Akechi must detain a villain who is a master of disguise; this antagonist will appear in other novels with Kogoro Akechi as the main character.

Suitable reading for N3 or above students. 

In this novel the most difficult words contain furigana and it disappears progressively when words are repeated.
