Madogiwa no Totto-chan (窓ぎわのトットちゃん) is Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's autobiographical account of her childhood.

The book gathers the author's memories as a little girl called Totto-chan at Tomoe Gakuen, an unconventional elementary school in pre-war Tokyo where the classrooms were railway carriages and teaching revolved around the children. Through short episodes, it warmly portrays that educational approach and the headmaster who made it possible.
