Tsunagu Nihongo is a method for Japanese learning whose main goal is for students to acquire the necessary level of communication to be able to participate actively in society.  This is why the main focus is on communication, above other aspects of the language such as grammar and vocabulary.

The authors suggest the following method to use the book: after carefully listening to a conversation based on a real situation, students will study the sentence pattern and practice this kind of structure. After that, students will test they are able to apply these patterns through a practical exercise.

Tsunagu Nihongo comprises 30 chapters divided into two volumes: Basic 1 (chapters 1-15) and basic 2 (chapters 16- 30). In order to finish both volumes students will need approximately 360 hours.

Once completed both books, students will have acquired level A2 or JLPT 4 as well as 2000 new words and 400 kanjis.

Both volumes of the Tsunago Nihongo method have a very attractive visual design and a well-structured content. Moreover, some parts of the book are in red ink so students can easily identify the contents they need to memorize. A red plastic sheet is included to hide those contents.
